Happy Sunday! Weather wise, we had a week with winter, spring and now summer all rolled up. After last week's warm up the bottom fell out Monday, and we had lows in the teens for a couple of days with snow flurries off and on. Now we've been in the 80's for the last four days. We hit an all-time high of 85 yesterday. Deciding what to wear each day has been a bit of a challenge to say the least.
We took advantage of the gorgeous day yesterday and worked out in the back yard for a while. I checked on my herbs and the garlic, and everything looks really good. I cleaned up the back patio table and chairs and gave the grill a good scrub. This week we're having our gutters and house pressure washed so we'll be all set for relaxing outside and grilling very soon.
I've been doing my yearly Spring spruce around the house and while sorting through a number of things over the last two weeks I was able to enjoy four different shows on Netflix.
Chef (2014) I have seen this movie two or three times and I had forgotten how much I enjoyed it.
Breakdown 1975 (2025) I found this documentary very interesting.
Love Con Revenge (2025) I enjoyed this one also. This isn't the online scams we're all used to hearing about. These were 'real' relationships and even a marriage.
Bad Shabbos (2026) Cute movie.
What we've been eating:
Monday was cold so I decided to make another batch of beef and bean chili with cornbread.
Big salad and lo cornbread
Crispy garlic chicken, baked potato and salad
Beef cheeseburgers and 'fries'
Today I am going to make a batch of jalapeno pepper jelly. I really overstocked the jalapeno's last summer, so I need to start using them up before this year's batch comes in. I did pretty well on all of the other fruits and veggies I stocked because it looks like they'll run out right after the new ones start coming. Last month I did run out of green bell peppers, so I need to remember this year to preserve much more. After the jelly is done, I 'm going to go outside and read for an hour or two. That is my cozy happy place this time of year and I have a stack of books I want to read this year.
I hope everyone has a wonderful week!!
We also had nice weather yesterday. Not so nice today...
ReplyDeleteYour meals look so good! And Jalapeno pepper jelly sounds very good.
Glad you're getting a little better weather. The jalapeno pepper jelly turned out well. Now, three more bags of peppers to find something to do with.
DeleteHad 6 egg yolks today :-)) Love what you have been eating..need to make some lamb meatballs soon.
ReplyDeleteYum! I love lamb meatballs so much better than beef.
DeleteUs too. We've seen CHEF many times and it's on the docket to watch again before we say goodbye to Netflix. We rotate streaming services. Love that you got outside. I did too but to read blogs. Yard chores up soon. Happy Spring.
ReplyDeleteChef really is a good movie. I'd still watch it again.
DeleteHappy Spring to you Ivy!!
❤️
DeleteWe only had spring and winter, no summer yet. It's coming soon though.
ReplyDeleteYour dinners always look so good.
Thanks Ann. At least you've had a bit of spring. Honestly I wish we weren't going from high 80's one day to 40's or less. It's brutal.
DeleteWe have had the same 3 seasons this week. Today was just glorious - I worked outside and let's say it was a 3 change (clothes) kind of day. Kept getting warmer and warmer and dirtier and dirtier and kept changing. Tomorrow will be much cooler. Crazy spring weather.
ReplyDeleteSpring is very crazy here. I'm just glad we've had so many sunny days during the winter and now. That helps no matter how cold it is out.
Deletelast week in a silent auction I won a couple of tins of chili, I have never had chili from a can before. I am curious to see if it is any good.
ReplyDeleteI have not had chili from a can before either. I hope it is good.
DeleteThanks for the Netflix suggestions, I'm always on the look out for something good to watch (assuming we can get them over here - we can't always)! And isn't it great to be back outside!
ReplyDeleteI always like getting suggestions too so that is why I share what I'm watching.
DeleteYes, it is nice to be able to go out without layers or a coat.
85 degrees? WOW! It's snowing here right now. I can't wait for summer! How did you like this season of Southern Charm? I'm sad that Craig fell off the wagon. He really needs to just never drink alcohol again.
ReplyDeleteYesterday we hit 89 and now it is only going to be a high of 50 today. It is a roller coaster here.
DeleteI was so sad to see Craig fall off the wagon and to fall for being baited like he was so many times. I don't care for Sally or Austin and I feel like they set him up.
We've had up and down weather too but we didn't get to warm up to the 80's yet! 71 was our highest and lows got into the teens again! Sure glad Spring is here! All your food sounds so good!
ReplyDeleteWe hit 89 yesterday for a high but we are a lot further south. Today it is cooler so we're still riding the roller coaster for a while.
DeleteI survived the heat wave, but it made sleeping at night very uncomfortable. Temperatures are still above normal, but at least I can tolerate them until they cool down next weekend.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you do it. I just cannot sleep if it is too hot.
DeleteThe jalapeno jelly sounds good.. share the recipe.
ReplyDeleteI will share soon.
DeleteHello Lori! Happy Spring! I'm still waiting for some of your warm weather - still in the 40's here - but we're getting there! Tomorrow could be 30 or 60...who knows?? I'm riding the same rollercoaster as you right now! LOL Your meals look delish! I could go for that burger and fries right now! And the jalapeno jelly sounds good too. Looking forward to that recipe. Hope you're having a great week! :)
ReplyDeleteDo you like having all seasons in a single week? We have had a mild winter here and I love it.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy all four seasons, but not in one week. It is hard to from 80-40 in just a few hours.
DeleteI completely agree, Lori. Do I leave the house with a winter coat on or a light jacket. Either way, I will regret my decision with that type of temperature change.
Deletewinter is on the way for us thank goodness. it has been the longest summer here! we have a cyclone landing in the west at the moment; weather is always interesting. have a great weekend.
ReplyDeletesherry
I hope you have a better winter than you did summer. Weather is getting crazy it seems all over. I hope you have a good weekend also. Stay safe.
DeleteI love jalapeño pepper jelly! Have you priced that stuff? It is not cheap. I grew jalapeños last year, but I ended up giving a good portion of them to my son, never even thinking about making jalapeño jelly, and yet I’ve done that in the past. I’ve got to remember that midsummer.
ReplyDeleteI always make my own so I'm not sure what the price is. I had so many jalapenos last summer that I still have a large bag in the freezer. Wish you were closer, I would share.
DeleteYour weather has been really crazy - 3 seasons in one week? It's been kind of consistent In Florida. I love pepper jelly. How nice that you made your own. The only Netflix show I saw from your list was Bad Shabbos - it was a little strange but kind of cute. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteIt has been crazy weather here more so than usual. I love pepper jelly also and it is so simple to make. Bad Shabbos was a bit out there, but I enjoyed some of the characters. I hope you have a good week also!!
