My Week

I hope everyone had a lovely Mother's Day!

The weather here was great this past week.  Cool in the mornings and perfect in the afternoons.  We had quite a bit of rain through the week which was nice.  No storms, just nice steady rain which is exactly what we've needed.

I went to a number of stores to stock up on items we regularly use.  This should keep me out of stores for a while.  The farmers market also started so I went to see my favorite farmer.  He had gorgeous lettuce, radishes, strawberries and of course flowers.  His onions are wonderful and I've already replanted a couple of the bulbs.  You can't find onions like this in the store here.

I worked out in the yard multiple times getting everything planted in the garden and in pots.  I like to grow basil and arugula in large pots because they seem to do better.  I did pick up another lavender plant and put it in a pot until it gets a bit bigger.  Our yard is off to a good start.

While doing things around the house the last few weeks I watched a number of good documentaries.
The Twister-Caught in the Storm.  This was about the tornado that hit Joplin Missouri and it brought up a lot of emotions.  I know one of the doctors that was in the hospital that was hit by this storm.
India-Sweets and Spices
Kidnapped-Elizabeth Smart
Sins of Our Mother
Nobody dumps my daughter
Yesterday we watched Mother's Day on Netflix.  I don't remember seeing that when it came out in 2016 and it was a pretty cute movie.

Meals this week...
Sirloin steak, baked potato and salad
BBQ chicken legs, pesto, white cheddar mac and cheese and asparagus
Chicken fajita nachos

Beef chili with cornbread
BIG salad x2
LO pan of stuffed shells and a salad

I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the month of May.  I still am not quite sure how it is 5 months into the year already but here we are.

Be safe and remember to celebrate a little every day!!

    1. Spring and summer produce is so lovely. I love our local market. Most are Mennonite farmers and only grow heirloom which I appreciate. I'm glad you have local markets to shop at too.

  13. Hellooooooo Lori! LOOOOVE the farmers market finds. Delightful. And I love the celebrate life and all that goodness for sure.

So ... something to tell you. Remember that homemade vanilla candle I made and said it wasn't strong enough for the bigger room (snug and kitchen together)? Well, I turned the candle on two days ago in the bigger room and OMG. It smelled soooo good. So I guess, an even longer cure time was needed.

    Very, very cool.

Thanks for stopping by. I've been mostly unplugged and finally getting back to blogger land. Will be around t fully catch up on your fun, but wanted to share the candle news with you. I'm pretty excited about that because now I can make a small batch of them, store them and use them and/or gift them them throughout the seasons.

Cheers and boogie boogie. Be back soon.

  14. Hi Ivy!! I am glad you are well and went unplugged for a while. I think that is so important for our wellbeing.
Thank you for sharing all of your tips and ideas about the candles. That is good to know that the longer they cure the scent doesn't decrease but slightly increase. I MUST make some very soon as I love using candles that I know the ingredients in and I think they would make wonderful gifts.
Enjoy the rest of the week!!

  15. Hello Friend! I'm glad you had a nice weekend and are finally getting some nice weather. We are getting your rain this week, and we need it : ) I too am jealous of your farmers market haul. I love those onions and your lavender plant is gorgeous! I'm trying my hand at growing things in pots this year, so hopefully I'll have some luck. I know, it's hard to believe we are halfway through May already. It will be summer before we know it!
I'm taking your advice and trying to find things to celebrate a little every day! Today it's a cup of tea and a chocolate chip cookie! Have a lovely evening. Talk soon!

  16. Hi Lori, I'm excited to start thinking about the farmer's market- I just love shopping for all the local produce. My son is starting his garden and hopefully I'll be able to get some herbs planted when I get back to Pennsylvania next week. I always love when you share what you are watching- I'm always on the lookout. Have a great week.

    2. Hi Judee! As much as I love winter, fresh garden produce or the farmers market are so exciting to see. I hope you're able to get some herbs in. I remember your sons garden from last year and I know you'll be able to enjoy that too. Safe travels on your way back north.
