Things That Make Me Smile-Memory Lane

When I run across photos of things I remember from my younger days I usually save them.  Why I'm not sure so I decided to do a post with some of them to delete them off my computer.  It's funny the things you totally forgot about that were so very important to you back then.  Maybe that's why I'm not much of a consumer anymore and don't like a lot of 'stuff.' I grew up and realized it's all not really important.  But a lot of things were different back then and I did like my 'stuff.'

I had a few pairs of these but Candies shoes were my favorites.  And remember Dr. Scholl's sandals?  I had quite a few pairs of them in various colors.

Yes, I had these exact same socks.

A lot of birthday cakes had these on them.  They tasted horrible.

I did use these.  I remember the watermelon flavor well.

I remember all of this from our kitchen and my grandparents.

I can't tell you how many hours I spent doing this.

This was my bedroom set from 7 years old until I moved out at 18.  When I was about 15                              I decided I no longer wanted a canopy so it became a four poster bed.  I loved it.

What are some of the things that you remember from your childhood/younger days that are no longer around?

  1. Lori- It's fun to go down memory Lane. I certainly remember the kitchen things in the collage especially the "avocado" colors! I remember a lot of the things you shared!

    1. It is fun sometimes to see things I've totally forgotten about. Our kitchen was avocado everywhere.

  2. Thank you for the great memories. The only one I didn’t recognize were the Lip Lickers. We used Bonne Bell Lipsmackers, which was a local company. I had a very similar bedroom set. My daughters split it up and now Middle Child uses the bed board and dresser and my oldest daughter passed down the nightstand and highboy to her daughters! Years ago, I updated the hardware and painted the trim silver to replace the gold.

    1. You didn't use Lip Lickers? It was a tin that the lid slid open and was pretty awesome lip gloss. I had the bed, one night stand, the dresser and the hutch. I think my mom sold it after I left home. That's awesome that yours is still in the family.

    1. Funny thing is TBG wears toe socks now but in black. They're really good for your feet.

  7. Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars. Am I too old to admit I picked up a MINI Cooper S at the dealership a few weeks ago that I can't drive? It's a "pull back" car that has motorized rear wheels. It sits at my writing desk.

    1. My brother loved hot wheels and matchbox cars too and Legos. You're never too old for something that makes you smile.

  8. I still have toe socks. I got them not too long ago, so they’re still available. They’re not all that easy putting on, but they are super comfortable and really keep my feet warm.

    1. I loved sleeping under the canopy when I was young. By the time I was 15 or 16 I was tired of it and just used the four posters.
