My Weekly W's

What's on my mind: We finally got around an inch or two of rain overnight. Fall weather has arrived and I love it.  It's sunny with highs in the 60's and lows in the 30's which is just perfect in my opinion.  Later today I'm going out to plant garlic for next year along with milkweed, bee mix and bird mix wildflowers.  All of our garden beds are cleaned out except for the thyme, sage and rosemary which is still growing and looking good.  Hopefully they make it through the winter since it's predicted to be colder than normal.

Where I've been: Tuesday TBG had a doctor's appointment in Ofallon, so I tagged along and we enjoyed a great lunch at Drakes (the club is so delicious there) and stopped by Target for all of our Halloween candy for the trick or treaters. We were supposed to go to a bon fire last night, but the rain postponed it.  Honestly, I am glad because it was humid and 80 degrees yesterday.  We will enjoy it a lot more now with the appropriate weather for it.

Where I'm going: I have to work all week, and it will be a bit crazy. I have a new NP starting tomorrow that I have to meet with, Tuesday a new physician that requires a bit of time and then a physician candidate on Thursday. Luckily no appointments or commitments yet because I have a feeling, I'm going to want to hibernate next weekend.

What I'm watching: The Perfect Neighbor on Netflix which was very disturbing.  The fact that people like Susan are living among us is scary.  Carmello also on Netflix was the happy, heartwarming movie we needed to see and I highly recommend it.

What I'm reading: Good Husbandry

What I'm eating:
BIG salad
BBQ beef sandwiches with zucchini 'fries'
Chicken pesto pasta and a salad
Stromboli and a salad
LO chicken white bean and noodle spicey soup

Lamb cheeseburgers and fries
Tonight, we're having rice taco bowls
Tuesday, I made maple glazed and cinnamon sugar cake donuts for us and the doctors.

Today I made a caramel apple bundt cake that is to die for.  Plus, the house smells like fall. I will post the recipe this week.

What is making me smile: Binx.  I caught him across the room staring at me and practicing his scary Halloween look. I just love this crazy, smart, curious cat.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday and a great week ahead.

  1. The rain is nice and cooler temps too. Still no predictions of 30's here.
I just wish the wind would stop blowing here.
Sounds like a good week for you. Next week sounds busy at work.
    Your meals all sound delish.
    Have a good one.

  2. I went to a winery with friends yesterday, as it was beautiful (IMO, LOL!) in the upper 70's. Woke up this morning to wind and rain. It looks like it will last all week, which is depressing, but we will see. Weather reports are often exaggerated these days. Binx totally looks like a Halloween cat!

    1. That sounds like fun. It was in the 80's here on Saturday and very humid so not my idea of a fun bon fire night. We only had rain Saturday night into early Sunday morning and then it was a really pretty sunny day. I wish I could get a photo of his scary poses he does when you come out of a room. It is hilarious.

    1. Yes, I will need two days at home after this week that is for sure. There are so many things going on at work. The donuts and the cake are both really good, especially this time of year.

  5. IAww look how pretty Bink is! I've never had a black cat but whenever one of my cats would arch his back when it was stretching I used to say they are practicing for their scary Halloween look!

    1. He is a very pretty cat. His hair is so shiny and soft. He jumps out of doorways doing the crab walk with his back arched and it makes me laugh every time. I'm sure I've hurt his feelings because he thinks he is quite scary. lol

    2. I like Reba when I'm taking a break from cleaning. Van cracks me up. The son in law. Tomorrow we'll finish the last of Wednesday. Then there's this one cop show, I don't know if it will be toooooo much for me or not. I can't recall the name, but the cop gets shot and then comes back to work and gets setup in the basement of the police station.

  12. Yep, we finally got rain. We also got a lot of lightning. My son’s house was hit by lightning and set on fire, so he, my daughter-in-law, and their three cats have moved in with me because their house is not habitable at the moment.

    1. I am so sorry to hear that. What a horrible thing to go through. I'm glad everyone is OK though. We didn't have storms, just a lot of rain.

    1. I do love a good doughnut every now and then. My October has been really busy with work and getting everything ready at home for winter. I'm glad you didn't get the hailstones; those are so dangerous. Take care!!
