My Week

We are right in the middle of all of the holiday magic, and I couldn't be happier.  Things always seem a bit brighter and people usually a bit happier than any other time of the year.  There is only eleven days until Christmas day!!  Seriously, time is going by quicker than ever even with trying to focus on the moment, but I am determined.  The house is all decorated and all of the lists are getting checked off and we've been celebrating a little every day.  We've had this for 20 years and it is the first thing that gets put out every year now.

And this is always next.  We had a fireplace in Florida to hang our stockings but not here, so I found this and really love it.

Meet Claire and Oliver. Before the bitter cold snap, TBG and I took a horse and buggy ride downtown around the Commons and it was so nice.  I really wanted to go to the Christmas parade, but the traffic and parking are always so annoying we decided to pass.  I think we're just getting older because traffic and parking never kept us from doing anything before.  😏

I've mentioned many times that we have an awesome farmers market and many farms to buy from.  Well now a lot of them have come together and they are doing a Winter Market inside the mall December thru March.  I was so excited!  My favorite farmer is there along with a lot of others.  There is fresh dairy, meat, some veggies and so many other things.  It's great to be able to buy things to support the locals and I love meeting more new people.

What we've been eating...
Chicken Tika Masala with rice and naan

BIG salad
Chicken, baked potato and salad

Steak, scalloped potatoes and green beans. The steaks were huge, so we split one for dinner and used the other one to make steak sandwiches.  SO delicious!

Beef taco over rice with a cheese roll up.

Tonight, we're having fish tacos with slaw.

I hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful time of year!!

                                                                Are you ready for Christmas?

Many, many years ago I got to go on a horse and buggy ride around the city at Christmas. It was so cold, but just beautiful.
Glad you are enjoying the season.

  3. Your dinners always look/sound so good.
I hear you on skipping things because of traffic and parking. I'm not much into crowds these days. A carriage ride sure sounds nice

    1. Thank you. The last few years we catch ourselves deciding not to do something because of parking or crowds so I guess those days are over for the most part. It was fun and not quite as cold yet.

  4. I'm with you on the traffic and parking deal. It's one of the big reasons why I want to move. A smaller town away from the big city sounds so appealing right now.

    1. The funny thing is 20 years ago when we lived in big city with 10x more crowds and traffic it didn't bother either of us at all. But now here in a small town, neither of us want to deal with any crowds or parking issues. I guess we are officially getting old!

  5. My tikka marsala attempts are never as good as I want them to be. About Christmas: haven't started! After this I go to the garage and see what I can do.

  7. I won’t be ready until Christmas Eve. So many gifts to wrap and cookies to bake. We also host a big cousin party on the 27th, so lots to do to prepare for that. My husband is a psycho about parking these days 🤣

  8. The Christmas countdown is real. We have been known to avoid things because of parking and traffic, but we are older and think of those things now.

  15. Hi Lori! Stopped back in to say thank you about the Darth and candy cane. Found him at a discount store (TJ/TK Maxx), for cheap. But it was that candy cane that sold the item. When I saw that teeny tiny candy cane I was like, I gotta shoot that. I gotttaa shoooot that. Plus, the all black shine would be a interesting reflection challenge.

Wishing you a fun rest of the month. Where did the year go? Excited to see what other goodies you share in 2026.

    Happy Christmas!

I have no idea where this year went. I try so hard to live in the moment, but these moments are passing by quicker all the time.
After Friday I am off until January 5th so I plan on having all the fun.
Take care my friend and enjoy the season!!

  22. Oh these meals look amazing. I'm planning on having my cabinets painted after the new year, and have been planning which meals will be cooked after that's done. I think I need to make some fish tacos and Chicken Tika Masala with rice and naan. Do you make your naan homemade too?
