Very pretty. I think we all should keep the winter decorations out longer but the snowflakes and snowmen, sleds etc. seem to get packed up. Nature doing its thing is a nice thought to get through winter.
Those snowflakes are beautiful! There is a real quiet beauty to the snow, and I do like winter and I enjoy snow, but I enjoy the kind of snow that looks beautiful one day and is pretty much gone the next. :-)
Hey Lori! I have yet another candle update. So we lit the Sugar Cookie tonight and so far, I really, really like it.
I did the soya coco virgin blend (Hobby Lobby). Melted 12 ounces and added 1oz of the Sugar Cookie. Just a little over 8% fragrance oil. Though I believe that wax can take up to 10% - Tim doesn't feel like we need the 10% and I agree. Though, your millage may vary.
I believe the thing is not to go over the 10 % because at that point, it's like the law of diminishing returns.
Anyway, I came over to tell you because I was excited. I really enjoy this. I let it cure for the two weeks, plus two more days ish.
And that my friend, is all that's fit to print. Happy Weekend!
Hey Lori. I just jumped on the computer real quick (I see you have a new post, be back tomorrow to catchup), but wanted to come on with a new update.
So ... smelled like cookies baking the first light. The second time I wanna say it was less strong but still there. I asked Tim if he wanted me to go to 10 percent for the next one and he liked the 8 percent.
The office/studio is a smaller room.
Then I took said Sugar Cookie to the snug (living room) and kitchen. We own a trailer so it's one giant room. The hot throw was super weak in the larger room with the way this candle was made. Single wood wick, wide mouth Mason jar.
Now, I have a larger mouth jar with an old candle that's almost done and I'll try a double wick with that one and for the larger room, I might shoot it to 10 percent.
Also, the plain unscented candle in the Mason jar continues to burn well. The melt pool looks good. Real happy and will many many more unscented. I like sometimes no smells.
And that's where we're at today. Excited to hear your notes. Gonna get offline and get settled down for the night. Happy Candle making. It really is fun.
Thank you Ivy. I'm so glad you've been keeping me updated on your candle experiment. I will let you know when I get started and how things go here with it. Have a great day!!
They have the sale I think again this week. So far, I like the unscented the best that I made. I dunno. Sometimes I want that glow and no smells.
I also bought a smaller scented candle from Aldi (four bucks), and it didn't smell in the larger joined room either. Haven't tried it yet in the smaller room.
I think I'm all caught up here. I've been sewing and one of my new things is I make unpaper towels or reusable paper towels. Really, they're just towels but the idea is they replace paper towels and I LOOOOVE this. I love this whole thing of making my own candles and not spending money on paper towels. Well, still have them but I barely use them.
Anyway, that's what new. I loved seeing your foods and baked shells are yummy.
Oh, my. This is wonderful.

Hi Ivy! Thank you so much for your detailed directions on what you did. I just took a snapshot of what you used so I can try it.
DeleteI can't wait to get to Hobby Lobby next week when some of this snow is gone.
Have a great Saturday!!

Snow! If only ... we are still sweltering away here in Oz. Heatwaves, floods etc!! Bring on winter I say :)
ReplyDeleteI have seen that it does look like you've had a very hot summer. Stay cool.
