I can't believe it's been 4 years since we brought Binx into our family.
He was found at around 4 weeks old, 2.5 pounds roaming around the county by himself and someone picked him up and took him to one of the shelters. They kept him in the front office in a large 6x6 foot cage away from all of the other animals because he was too small to get any vaccinations.
A friend of ours was volunteering at the shelter and called us when he was ready to find a home to see if we wanted him. We had just lost our last cat 6 months earlier and I really wasn't interested. But then TBG sent me a video of him playing in his cage and I just had to meet him and the rest is history.
The first thing I noticed about him on the ride home was that he doesn't meow very much at all and still doesn't. To say this little 3.5 pound ball of fur hit the ground running when we got home is an understatement. I think he was so happy to be out of the cage and able to run. Four years later and he still loves to fly through the house only now he's up to 11.6 pounds and even louder.
He is smart, curious, brave and strong. He's been doing pull ups on the counters and window ledges since he was probably six months old. He has his own relationship with both of us. I am his play buddy, the one he hangs out with and the one he snuggles up to at night. TBG is his person though and he sticks by his side like glue when he's home. Binx is a true joy to have in our lives.
Happy Gotcha day! Binx is a beauty and is as much blessed to have you as you are him. I miss having a cat around the house.
ReplyDeleteTBG missed having one too after our last one passed away. I didn't think I was ready yet, but I am so glad we rescued him. He's one of a kind.
DeleteUgh Binx is absolutely precious and I love that beautiful picture of you with him! xoxo 🏴☠️

ReplyDeleteBinx is our first black cat and he is really special.
DeleteIf only all animals could find such a happy home!
ReplyDeleteIt breaks my heart how many cats and dogs do not get a good home.
DeleteHappy Gotcha Day Binx. You found yourself a great home.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ann!!
DeleteOh Lori, I love Binx and I love my cats! Not Bossy!
ReplyDeleteCats are great, aren't they?
DeleteHe found the home he wanted! He is a striking fellow.
ReplyDeleteHe is a keeper.
DeleteHappy Gotcha Day, Binx! Oh, this completely melted my heart. I cannot believe it has already been four years since that tiny, 2.5-pound little explorer found his way into your hearts.
ReplyDeleteIt is so funny how people say "I'm not ready for another pet yet," and then the universe drops a video of a sweet little soul playing in a shelter cage, and all of our defenses just instantly crumble! TBG definitely knew what he was doing when he sent you that video. They just can't say no to that.
The image of him doing pull-ups on the counters and window ledges since he was a kitten is absolutely hilarious, he sounds like a little feline athlete! It is so precious how he has carved out distinct, special relationships with both of you. Being the designated nighttime snuggler and play buddy is the best job in the world, even if TBG is his ultimate "sticky glue" person during the day. He clearly knows exactly how loved he is, and going from a tiny cage to having a whole house to zoom through at 11.6 pounds is the ultimate kitty jackpot.
Did Binx get any special Gotcha Day treats or a brand new cardboard box to celebrate his big day? Sending a massive hug to you, TBG, and the handsome birthday boy!
Binx got a big spoonful of tuna for his treat.
DeleteI was a dog person all my life. Then, during the pandemic, I decided to rescue a cat. How did I live this long without having one? He is such a joy. He’s weird and quirky, but I wouldn’t do without him.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a sweet story Pattie. Cats really do have their own little independent personalities which I just love.
DeleteAww I love Binx! Our current and only cat is super attached to my husband. Nice picture of you and Binx!
