In My Kitchen-March 2026

March was a pretty good month even though it flew by.  Honestly though, they all seem to fly by now so I'm trying to just enjoy each day.

The weather was all over the place this month with spring, summer and winter temperatures so our meals were a mixture too.  Here are some of my favorite meals from March.

Chicken noodle and white bean soup with onions, garlic, ginger and cumin.  Such a comforting meal.

Lamb burgers with spicey 'fries'.

BIG salad with lots of veggies and chicken.

Beef and potato hand pie with a small side salad.

Naan 'pizza' and a salad

I have always made quite a bit of our bread, but I've been on a roll and have made all of the various breads we've eaten since January.  I don't think there is any going back to store bought now.  Here are two of my favorites.

A friend of mine loves dates and sweets so I used peanut butter to stuff in a date and then dipped them in chocolate and sprinkled some with pistachio nuts and she LOVED them.  They really are pretty good and mostly pretty healthy too.  She is always bringing me things from Poland like this cute trivet and a couple more kitchen towels.

So that is what March looked like in my kitchen.  I am joining Sherry at sherrys pickings who hosts In My Kitchen and connects us to each other from all over the globe.  Thank you again for hosting Sherry. I hope everyone has a wonderful April.

    2. I thought of you today. So last night (and each Saturday), I make seasoned pizza dough. Sorry if I already told you this ... well sometimes I have leftover. It goes in the fridge and the next day I make a big flat bread of it of sorts. OMG it's so good. Some Saturday nights I'll make the bread and the pizza. Other times in the fridge with leftover dough. Either way, oh my yum are we eating good.

Hope you have a great week, Lori!

  8. Putting ginger in chicken soup is new to me and something I am looking forward to doing. I make our bread. I need to give bagels a try, I think about it but don't do it. March did fly by!

  10. Oh those bagels are really singing to me! I haven't made them for a long time and I'm wondering if my French colleagues would appreciate them hmmmm..... good on you for making all your bread, it's hard to go back to store bought, I went through the same transformation a few years back. We do buy baguettes from time to time when we are out of bread and they are generally quite good in Frnace. Have a great April!!

    1. Thank you. I am sure your colleagues would love the bagels. If I lived where you do, I probably wouldn't be making all of my bread but here in the US grocery store bread is not good and bakeries are few and far between in my area. Wishing you a wonderful April as well.

  18. I made chicken soup this week as well. The white beans are something that would jot have occurred to me, but I'm going to try it next time. As far as baking bread, I started doing so at the beginning of the year and, like you, said, there is no turning back.

That's awesome that you've been doing all of your bread too. I know I can't go back to store bought now and I'm ok with that.
