What's top of my mind: Too much loss. Almost everyone I talk to has unexpectedly lost friends or family in the last couple of months. This week the big guy lost a friend that was only 51. Death is always sad no matter the age or circumstance but for so many people to pass lately that are relatively young really makes you stop and put life in perspective.
Where I've been: We did go out to breakfast yesterday and really enjoyed it. Other than that and work, I didn't go anywhere.
Where I'm going: Other than work, no plans as of yet. I don't think we'll need any groceries as we are pretty stocked up. The weather is supposed to be pretty decent this week so I may venture out into the backyard. lol
What I'm watching: I had Modern Family on while cooking this week. I just love that family.
What I'm reading: Midnight Chicken
What I'm listening to: Keeping it quiet when possible.
What I'm eating:
Who needs a good slap: China officials. They seriously said that the US overreacted by shooting down whatever it really was that they sent into our air space. Unbelievable.
What I'm planning: The big guy's birthday is in July and I'm planning a party. We don't usually celebrate with parties, but I think after everything that's happened the last three or four years, we need to this year.
What's making me smile: Eight months ago yesterday we rescued Binx. I can't believe he'll be a year-old next month. Binx is unlike any cat we've ever had with more energy than I've ever seen. This winter he has started snuggling though which is nice. He's definitely brought a lot of love and laughter into our lives.
How was your week?
I hope everyone is doing well. Stay safe!!
I'm sorry to hear about your losses. Things are pretty crazy right now, especially when everyone it seems has a cavalier attitude about getting sick. I was invited by a friend to go to a restaurant, and I told him "No, no, no" faster than the late Amy Winehouse.
Stuffed shells sound really good right now. I hope you have a better week this week.
Thank you! Yes we're still avoiding the public. We actually ate outside even though it was a bit chilly it was sunny and doable. SO many people are sick here also.ReplyDelete
The stuffed shells are so good. I hope you have a great week also my friend.
Every birthday deserves a party! I'm with you on that. I made stuffed shells a week ago and had a terrible time finding the actual pasta shells. Same thing happened to me a year ago. Do people not make them anymore?? Found them at third store I went to and there was only one brand of them.ReplyDelete
Yes! I thought it was just me! Here in Pennsylvania we couldn't find them for years!Delete
Every birthday does deserve a party Bijoux!! I had trouble finding them last year and as soon as I saw them I picked up two boxes this past year. I'm out now so I'll see how hard it is to find them. There are a lot less brands on many things here I've noticed.Delete
Hello! Your food sounds delicious! And I didn't know about that balloon until my husband told me! I couldn't believe it! I avoid the public too. Honestly there is so much sickness around! Stay safe and cozy, my friend.ReplyDelete
There does seem to be so much sickness going around. I hope you had a cozy weekend Billie Jo!Delete
we love Binx!ReplyDelete
We love you. Hope you're feeling better.Delete
Now that you mention it, I have also heard about a number of pets passing also. Wish you were closer, I'd share the pan in the freezer with you.ReplyDelete
Modern Family is such a great show.. i too have it on when I am doing boring things like folding the laundry and irony..ReplyDelete
That's exactly when I put it on. I just love it.Delete
I'd love to hear more about Midnight Chicken!ReplyDelete
So sorry about your losses and yes it is always sad to hear about another death. Where do you watch modern family? Netflix? Binx is so cute- enjoy him..ReplyDelete
Thank you Judee! We have channel E! and most nights it's a marathon from like 4pm to 9pm or maybe later. Binx makes it very easy to enjoy him.Delete
I just checked and it is on Netflix along with Amazon Prime.Delete
Hi Lori, first time here. Its such a nice way to share your weekly things.ReplyDelete
I'm reading The Housekeeper by Joy fielding. Modern Family is such a great show, I watch it with my daughter when she comes over.
Hello! Thank you for stopping by. I will look into The Housekeeper. I'm always looking for books to read. I love Modern Family! It's just a funny, feel good show.Delete
I am sorry to hear of your recent losses. The current state of affairs is chaotic, especially since it appears that everyone is treating illness with a casual attitude. I wish you a wonderful week.ReplyDelete

Hi Melody. Thank you for stopping by. The world does seem a bit chaotic right now.Delete
It does seem there has been a lot of losses the last month or so. Sorry for your loss.ReplyDelete
Your meals all sound delish. What a beautiful cat. I have a black cat as well.
Have a good week.
Hi Cheryl. Thank you. It does seem like so many younger and unexpected have passed. Binx came to us as a rescue about 6 months after we lost our cat Jet. He's something else. Wishing you a good rest of the week also!Delete
Yes, slap China for me too! Ridiculous and playing us for fools! Love Binx! Such a pretty boy!ReplyDelete
I didn't watch much news about the whole thing but caught the part where they said the US over reacted about the whole thing. Really?? Binx is the best.Delete
Hi Lori~ I'm so sorry about your husbands friend, my condolences to both of you. It seems like every time I read the obituaries there is someone I knew who has passed...it's so sad. China needs a good hard slap! I really hate that they play the US for fools. Your baked shells look delicious. While I was reorganizing things today I found two boxes of large shells. I think it will be dinner on Monday night. Binx is adorable! I have a soft spot for black cats, I think they are so cute. Have a wonderful Saturday. BarbReplyDelete
Hi Barb. Thank you. There just seems to be so many deaths lately. I love stuffed shells. Enjoy yours. Binx is our first black cat. He is so handsome and oh so crazy! Wishing you a wonderful weekend as well.ReplyDelete
Hi Lori, I'm so sorry for your loss. I feel like it's all I'm hearing lately. All the more reason to count our blessings (like your Binx!). Your food looks delicious! Have fun planning the birthday celebration! : )ReplyDelete
Thank you Danielle. Yes we need to all remember to count our blessings daily.Delete
Sounds like a good week!ReplyDelete
best… mae at maefood.blogspot.com
It was a pretty good week.Delete
I thought about leash training a few of my cats but they freaked out so much when I tried to put the harness on them, I gave up! They stayed only indoor cats for all of their lives! So sad about that girl in NJ.ReplyDelete
All of our cats have been inside only too. Binx just has SO much energy I thought it would be good for him to get outside with me sometimes. I bought one of the leashes that you only have to put his front feet into and then close it up across his back and attach the leash. He wasn't bothered by it at all which actually surprised me a little. lolDelete
Binx is a star! xoxoReplyDelete
He really is!!Delete
