What's top of my mind:
Honestly my mind is all over the place right now. I can't even articulate how I'm feeling about everything going on in our country, the entire world actually. The powers that be are continuing their goal of dividing us and controlling us and it is downright scary.
Where I've been:
I stopped at the farmers market for a few things and was sad to find out sweet cherry season is over and he was out. I knew I should have bought more than 1. Made a quick stop at the library to pick up the two books I requested. Then Saturday we did a big shop at Fresh Market and Behrmann's.
Where I'm going:
Other than work, I don't plan on going anywhere this week. I'm needing some down time at home.
What I'm watching:
Iron Chef on Netflix.
What I'm reading:
Blood, Bones and Butter by Garielle Hamilton. She is very honest about her life and she is also a wonderful writer. I'm about halfway through and I'm really enjoying it.
What I'm listening to:
Right now I'm listening to rain coming down. I'm happy I don't have to water anything today. I'm not sure if it's supposed to rain all day but I'll be happy either way. It is so green outside from the rain, it's beautiful.
What I'm eating:
Who needs a good slap:
Take your pick. There are SO many that fall into this category.
What I'm planning:
I'm planning on a low-key week. I'm tired, my soul is weary, and I just need some quiet time at home with the big guy and Binx.
What's making me smile:
Not much right now.
I probably should have skipped posting this week because I just don't have a lot to say but decided to go ahead because everything isn't always picture perfect. Stay safe everyone!!
That BLT does look good! There is nothing like a homegrown tomato! Haven't had one in a few years but I can still remember the taste of them! Definitely store bought does not compare to them. I'm going to look for that book you mentioned. I want to try to read more autobiographies and this sounds interesting. Usually I'll listen a little talk radio or the news or the like but Friday I just decided not to and listened to a mix of praise music while I was working . I think it settled my soul more than anything else would have done. These are tumultuous times we live in, but then so many other times have been just as tumultuous. It reminds me (and soothes me) that this place is not our home. I would love for some rainy days here! Enjoy today and rest up for the week ahead!

You never forget the taste of a really good home-grown tomato.
DeleteI'm a little over halfway through the book and am really finding her honesty and her writing to be very good. Anthony Bourdain said the book is "Magnificent. Simply the best memoir by a chef ever. Ever." so I figured it was going to be good since he didn't seem to be one to give unearned compliments.
I think the fact that it is the entire world spinning out of control that worries me the most. It definitely is not just here.
I'm glad you were able to settle your soul a little this week. That always makes a difference.
I hope you enjoy your Sunday and the week ahead!
Divide and conquer, control women, the poor, those barely getting by...sell more stuff. That seems to be what makes the world spin right now- or rather in reverse. On a brighter note, the sandwich does look phenomenal.
ReplyDeleteIt is just so much for me to process right now.
DeleteThanks Sam. The BLT was really good.
(((hugs)))
ReplyDeleteI'm still furious. I don't know how else to feel when half of the US population became second-class citizens in one moment. I'm assuming this will be my default mode for quite some time. At least my Governor is teaming up with Oregon and Washington to do something about it.
I hope this week is better for you. Try to enjoy your Sunday if you can.
Thank you my friend! Hugs are always appreciated.
DeleteMy feelings are all over the place between all the things that have been happening the last few years and now it all seems to be escalating into a serious danger zone for all of us.
Stay safe and enjoy your week.
I am mad-jealous of the BLT. I too won't order them in restaurants knowing the T are pale puny things. When I am in MI in August I plan on finding me some real ones for BLTs etc.
ReplyDeleteAs I was writing the post I almost said 'SPO...look at this BLT' because I remember you being a purist like myself. Yes, when you're in MI in August it will be the perfect time to find a real tomato. You may even want to sneak some home with you.
DeleteNever stop posting! I appreciate that you are honest and real. Heavens knows we need more of that. I am with you. So much anger and hate and division. And like you, I find comfort in being home. I hope you have a cozy week and find peace and comfort. : ) P.S. That BLT looks amazing. It brought back memories for me. My mom used to make them for my dad. He loved them!
ReplyDeleteThank you Billie Jo. Yes, home is always my favorite place to be where I can attempt to shut out the world. So much anger, hate and division is what really gets to me.
DeleteBLT's are heaven on earth to me. I hope you have a good week!
It's been a long time since I've had a really good BLT. Soon the tomato's will be plentiful at the farmers market and then I'm going to make myself one! I hope your time at home gives you peace and comfort. These are hard times indeed!
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to enjoy a good BLT soon. They are one of my favorite simple pleasures. lol
DeleteI am really looking forward to three days at home and tuning out the rest of the world. It's scary out there. Enjoy the long weekend.
Sounds like you have been 'down' too...

Yes I have. I hope you and your husband are doing better.
DeleteI'm glad you posted, Lori. Your sandwich looks so delicious and I totally hear you about the tomatoes. TG is growing some outside and I cannot wait to taste them ... because they actually TASTE like tomatoes! Everything is pretty discouraging right now and I hope we can make it until the midterms. All I'm going to say on the matter. I love the sound of rain too, and not having to lug the heavy watering can to each of my three sword ferns, haahaha! We're having lots of rain right now and it's glorious. I hope you and the big guy and Binx have a truly special, peaceful, relaxing and delicious Fourth of July holiday! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you Jenny! It's sunny, hot and humid here but it is summer. I think we're supposed to get rain sometime but not sure.
DeleteI hope you have a wonderful 4th of July. I can't wait to see what your menu was. I'm excited for a weekend at home and looking forward to a delicious and relaxing time. Take care my friend!!
